Help & user guide

Everything you need to know about using SetMaster Pro.

How it works

1
Upload your mix
Drag and drop your file or click Browse. We accept WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF, OGG, and M4A. File size limits: 1GB (Free), 3GB (Pro), 5GB (Studio). WAV files are capped at 3GB - about 3 hours of audio.
2
Choose a profile
Select the mastering profile that matches your output - streaming, club, podcast, or warm analogue.
3
Download your master
Processing usually takes 1-3 minutes. You'll get a download button on the dashboard and in your history.

Supported file formats

WAVRecommended. Lossless audio - gives the mastering engine the most to work with.
AIFFLossless, same quality as WAV. Common on Mac and in DJ software.
FLACLossless compressed. Smaller than WAV with no quality loss.
MP3Accepted but not ideal - the original compression limits what mastering can achieve. Use WAV or AIFF where possible.
OGGAccepted. Open-source compressed format used by some DJ software and game audio tools.
M4AAccepted. Common Apple/iTunes export format. Same quality considerations as MP3.

File size limits: Free plan - up to 1GB. Pro - up to 3GB. Studio - up to 5GB. WAV files are limited to 3GB across all plans (approx. 3 hours of audio).

Mastering profiles

Each profile applies a different set of processing optimised for its intended playback environment. Choose the one that matches where your mix will be heard.

Streaming / RadioBalancedAll plans

Targets -14 to -12 LUFS - the loudness level used by Spotify, Apple Music, and Mixcloud. Balanced compression and gentle limiting to ensure your mix sounds consistent across streaming platforms without being penalised by loudness normalisation.

Best for: Releasing on streaming platforms, radio shows, mixes for online distribution.

Club / FestivalLoud & PunchyPro & Studio

Aggressive limiting and a smile-curve EQ (boosted lows and highs) designed to cut through a high-SPL PA system. Maximises perceived loudness and energy for large room playback.

Best for: DJ sets for clubs, festivals, or any large sound system.

Podcast / Radio ShowVocal ClarityPro & Studio

A 2-5kHz presence boost improves speech intelligibility, with gentle dynamic ducking to keep host segments punchy. Targets -16 LUFS to meet podcast platform standards.

Best for: Podcast episodes, radio shows with voice-over, DJ interviews.

Warm / AnalogueSmooth & DeepPro & Studio

Applies tape and tube saturation emulation, rolls off harsh high frequencies, and thickens the low-mids. Gives digital recordings the warmth and depth of an analogue signal chain.

Best for: House, disco, soul, any genre where a vintage warmth suits the music.

Output formats

MP3 - 320kbpsAll plans

320kbps MP3 is near-indistinguishable from lossless for most listeners. Smaller files, universally compatible with streaming, DJ software, and broadcast systems. Good choice if file size matters or if your final destination is streaming.

WAV - LosslessPro & Studio

16-bit / 44.1kHz WAV preserves every detail of the master. Recommended if you're handing the file to a broadcaster, pressing to vinyl, or want an archive copy before encoding to other formats.

Downloading your master

Once your mix has been mastered, a Download button appears on the dashboard. Your file is also available in your History for as long as your plan retains it.

Downloaded files are named your-original-filename - Mastered with Setmaster Pro.wav/mp3 so you can easily identify them alongside your original mix.

File availability: Masters are available for 24 hours after processing completes, on all plans. After that the file is permanently deleted. Download and back up your master as soon as it's ready.

If your download link has expired, you'll see an Expired badge in your History. To get a new master, simply resubmit your mix - this uses one mix credit.

FAQ

How long does mastering take?

Most mixes complete in 1-3 minutes. Longer files or heavy server load can extend this slightly. Studio plan users are prioritised in the queue.

What's the audio watermark on the free plan?

Free plan masters include a short promotional audio clip at the start of the file. Upgrade to Pro or Studio to receive a clean, watermark-free master.

Can I master the same file twice?

Yes - each submission counts as one mix against your monthly allowance, regardless of whether it's a new file or a re-upload.

What happens if I hit my monthly limit?

You won't be able to start new mastering jobs until your allowance resets at the start of the next calendar month. You can upgrade to Pro or Studio at any time to increase your limit immediately.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, at any time from the Billing page. You keep access to your plan until the end of the billing period.

What if my mastering job fails?

Occasionally a job can fail due to a corrupted file or processing error. Check your History page - failed jobs are shown clearly. Try re-uploading the file. If the problem persists, contact us at contact@setmasterpro.com.

Is my audio kept private?

Yes. Your files are stored securely in private cloud storage and are never shared or accessible to other users. Only you can download your masters.
