Everything you need to know about SetMaster Pro.
What is SetMaster Pro?
SetMaster Pro is an online audio mastering service built specifically for DJ mixes. You upload your mix file, choose a mastering profile suited to where your mix will be heard (club, streaming, podcast, or warm analogue), and receive a professionally mastered file - typically within 1-3 minutes.
Who is SetMaster Pro designed for?
SetMaster Pro is built for club DJs, radio presenters, podcast hosts, and anyone who records DJ mixes. If you want your mix to sound polished and broadcast-ready without hiring a mastering engineer or learning audio production software, SetMaster Pro is for you.
What file formats can I upload?
You can upload WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF, OGG, and M4A files. For best results, we recommend uploading a WAV or AIFF file as these are lossless formats that give the mastering engine the most information to work with. MP3 and M4A files are accepted but the quality ceiling is limited by their original compression.
How long a mix can I upload?
Mix length depends on your plan: Free - up to 3 hours; Pro - up to 6 hours; Studio Lite - up to 9 hours; Studio - up to 12 hours. That covers everything from a single track to a full night, and you upload the file straight from your DJ software - no re-encoding needed.
How long does mastering take?
Most mixes complete in 1-3 minutes. Longer files or periods of high server load can extend this slightly. Studio plan users are prioritised in the processing queue.
What mastering profiles are available?
There are four profiles: Streaming / Radio (targets -14 to -12 LUFS, optimised for Spotify, Apple Music, and Mixcloud); Club / Festival (targets -10 LUFS for USB, car and PA playback, with smile-curve EQ for large systems); Podcast / Radio Show (vocal clarity boost targeting -16 LUFS for podcast platforms); and Warm / Analogue (tape and tube saturation for a vintage, smooth sound). The Streaming / Radio profile is available on the Free plan; all four profiles are available on any paid plan.
What output formats are available?
Free plan users receive a 320kbps MP3. Paid users can choose between 320kbps MP3 or a lossless WAV (16-bit / 44.1kHz).
Can SetMaster Pro fix a clipped recording?
It can repair one. The Repair clipped recording switch on the upload page finds the flat-topped peaks a mixer or recorder left when it went into the red, rebuilds each peak from the audio either side of it, and holds the rebuilt peaks below clipping in the master. It is a repair, not a recovery: a lightly clipped set comes back clean, a heavily clipped one comes back better, and stretches clipped for longer than 20 ms are left as they are. Studio Lite and Studio.
Does SetMaster Pro clean up vinyl recordings?
Yes. The Vinyl cleanup switch removes mains hum (50 or 60 Hz and its harmonics) when the hum is clearly there, and repairs surface clicks by rebuilding the audio either side of each one. It works on clicks shorter than 3 ms; deep scratches and skips are left as they are, and it does not remove hiss or crackle. Pro and above. Studio Lite and Studio can choose a High click setting that looks for smaller clicks.
Can I upload more than one mix at a time?
On Studio Lite and Studio, yes. Click Add more mixes under the drop zone, set the profile, format and destinations once, give each mix its own title, and click once. Studio Lite takes up to 5 mixes at a time, Studio up to your remaining monthly allowance. Uploads run one after another, mastering runs on our servers two at a time, and you can close the page once the uploads finish. One email arrives per mix as its master is ready. Each mix still counts against your monthly allowance as normal.
My recorder split my set into two files. Can I master it as one mix?
Yes, on Studio Lite and Studio. Recorders and DJ software split long WAV recordings at a 2 GB or 4 GB file limit, which is 3 to 6 hours. Pick all the parts, choose Join into one recording, check the order, and they are joined end to end with no gap and mastered as one mix. Silence at the very start and end is trimmed automatically, as on every master. Up to 6 parts; a join counts as one mix.
What does the Remove rumble and DC offset switch do?
It strips the sub-audible rumble and offset that turntables, hi-fi line-ins and older recorders leave behind, before mastering starts. Both eat headroom without adding anything you can hear. On a clean digital mix it changes nothing. Pro and above, and included with a pay-as-you-go credit.
Do the cleanup switches change my master if I leave them off?
No. All four are optional and off by default. With every switch off, your master comes out exactly as it did before they were added.
How long are mastered files available to download?
Mastered files are available for 24 hours after processing completes on all plans. After that the file is permanently deleted from our servers. We recommend downloading and backing up your master as soon as it is ready.
What's the difference between Free and a paid plan?
Free gives you one master a month (two in your first month) with the Streaming / Radio profile as a 320 kbps MP3. Paid plans unlock all four mastering profiles - including Club / Festival - WAV and MP3 downloads, more masters a month, and one-click publishing to SoundCloud and Mixcloud.
Can I master the same file more than once?
Yes. Each submission counts as one mix against your monthly allowance, regardless of whether it is a new file or a re-upload of the same mix.
What happens when I reach my monthly mix limit?
You will not be able to start new mastering jobs until your allowance resets. It resets on the monthly anniversary of the date your plan started, not on the first of the calendar month - so if you subscribed on the 14th, it resets on the 14th of each month. You can upgrade to a higher plan at any time to increase your limit immediately, or buy pay-as-you-go credits, which sit outside the monthly allowance. Without a paid plan, each master uses one credit while you have credits, and your monthly allowance is used once your credits are spent. On Pro or Studio Lite, your included monthly mixes come first and credits cover the rest. Studio does not use credits.
How is DJ mix mastering different from track mastering?
Track mastering focuses on a single piece of music - controlling dynamics, EQ, and loudness for a standalone release. DJ mix mastering handles a continuous recording that may span hours, multiple genres, and varying recording levels. Our profiles are tuned specifically for this longer-form content, targeting the loudness and tonal balance appropriate for each playback environment.
Is my audio kept private?
Yes. Your files are stored in private cloud storage and are never shared or accessible to other users. Only you can access and download your masters. Files are permanently deleted 24 hours after processing.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, at any time from the Billing page inside your dashboard. You retain access to your plan until the end of the current billing period, and you will not be charged again after cancellation.
Can I publish my master directly to SoundCloud?
Yes - Pro, Studio Lite and Studio users can publish their mastered mix to SoundCloud in two ways. From the dashboard upload page, enable 'Publish to SoundCloud' before you click Upload & Master: fill in the track details (title, artwork, artist, genre, tags, description) and it will publish automatically the moment mastering finishes - fire and forget. Alternatively, from your History page you can click 'Publish to SoundCloud' on any completed master at any time. Connect your SoundCloud account first from the Profile page in your dashboard.
Can I upload directly to Mixcloud from SetMaster Pro?
Yes - Pro, Studio Lite and Studio subscribers can upload mastered mixes directly to Mixcloud without exporting. After mastering finishes, hit 'Upload to Mixcloud' and your mix goes live on your profile. Connect your Mixcloud account from the Profile page in your dashboard.
What is the difference between the export and the Mixcloud upload?
The export downloads a file to your computer (MP3 or WAV). The Mixcloud upload sends your mastered mix directly to your Mixcloud profile, so it is available to stream immediately - no downloading, no switching apps.
Do I still need to export to MP3 if I am uploading to Mixcloud?
No - the direct Mixcloud upload handles everything. You only need to export if you want a file for your computer or to upload to other platforms manually.
Which tiers get Mixcloud uploads?
All paid tiers - Pro (£4.99/mo), Studio Lite (£9.99/mo) and Studio (£24.99/mo). Free tier does not include publishing to SoundCloud or Mixcloud.
Can I add a tracklist when I publish?
Yes, when publishing to SoundCloud or Mixcloud (Pro and above, or with a pay-as-you-go credit). Import a rekordbox, Serato or Traktor history export, or paste a list, one track per line. Mixcloud gets it as track sections; SoundCloud gets it at the end of the description, and your own description is never cut. Start times are optional. It reads what your DJ software logged or what you typed; it does not identify tracks.
What should I do if my mastering job fails?
Check your History page - failed jobs are shown clearly. The most common cause is a corrupted or unsupported file. Try re-uploading the file. If the problem persists, contact us at contact@setmasterpro.com and we will investigate.
